The National Airport Kefalonia Anna Pollatou ( IATA : EFL , ICAO : LGKF , CAA : KAKF ) located in S-SW of Kefalonia, 10 km from the capital of Kefalonia , in Argostoli and was named to tragic Olympians Anne Pollatou.
The KAKF has an asphalt paved runway, 14/32, 3,000 meters long, capable of accommodating Boeing 767 , Airbus A300 , Lockheed Tristar and McDonnell Douglas DC-10 aircraft . Although the length of the treadmill can accommodate larger aircraft (eg Boeing 747 ), this is not feasible because the ground does not have the necessary reinforcement, the airport’s fire safety class (6 in the winter season, 5 in the summer ) is low (category 1 or 2 required for such large planes), but also the general infrastructure of the airport (terminal, equipment, etc.) make it impossible to serve such an aircraft.
